Tips for Organizing Your Bedroom Closet

Bedroom closets can be challenging places to keep organized. A rule of thumb is to keep your most-used items in plain sight, less-used items lower, and least-used items up high. There are lots of different ways to go with closet organizing systems as well — you can get drawers, racks, boxes, hanging shelves, and on and on. To get you started, we’ve put together a list of our 5 favorite tips for organizing a bedroom closet!

Add Another Roddresses-hangers_300
Adding a second rod for hanging clothes in the closet is a great way to get more space.

You can get hanging rods that hook over existing ones for an instant way to create extra room for short hanging clothes.

Use Shelf Dividers

Shelf dividers prevent leaning towers of stacked items from toppling over. Dividers can also be used to keep purses or boots upright rather than slumping and creasing or losing shape.

Canvas hanging shelves, like this set with drawers, hold sweaters, T-shirts, and other clothing items that might stretch on a hanger.

Outside your closet, install a hook or a pullout rod for hanging dry cleaning before it goes into the closet. You can also use it to organize outfits for parties, vacations, or the next day’s work.
